Inspired by the collaborative energy of the Seattle technology business community, Shanika founded Teqlaa to meet the need of business savvy technology counsels with global perspectives to help the modern day technology driven business organizations. Shanika’s vision for Teqlaa includes technology legal services made simple, accessible, and ubiquitous as the technology itself.

Shanika brings her experiences in corporate law, finance, product development and technology transactions in global enterprises, mid-market companies, and startups. Drawing from both her international experience and strong local ties to Seattle technology community, she is excited to help Teqlaa clients strengthen their capital structure and strategic relationships with win-win solutions that foster rapid growth.

Cultivating meaningful connections

Having grown up with a strong connection to Sri Lanka’s people and its culture, Shanika set out to create a new sense of community in Seattle. Through organizing, participating, and mentoring in tech startup events, learning the ropes of angel investing, and volunteering in legal clinics Shanika found a number of ways to cultivate positive relationships and a meaningful local identity. She found Seattle’s vibrant technology business network an ideal match for both her professional skills and social values.

A connector and a startup advocate

Shanika began her career practicing commercial law in Sri Lanka, her native country. After moving to the U.S. with her young family, Shanika earned her MBA and went on to acquire a wide range of experiences in the corporate world. Through Washington State’s APR 6 Law Clerk program, she was admitted to the Washington Bar in 2007. Currently, she serves on the advisory boards of several startups and is often found connecting international companies with various resources that Seattle has to offer the world. She has also been a keen supporter of bringing enterprise talent to the startup world.

Shanika combines her extensive background in technology and deal negotiations with her passion for helping talented leaders build high growth start-ups.
